Rajkiya Madhya Vidyalaya had suffered from sanitation and hygiene-related issues for a large part of its century-old history. Students defecated in the open, female teachers were forced to leave early during menstruation and most girl students suffered from hygiene-related illnesses. In 2013, we visited the neighbouring school, Bishanpur Fakira and saw the sanitary complex constructed by Water For People India with renovated toilet facilities. We then requested Water For People India for their support. By 2015, our school was equipped with five toilet blocks and one changing room for girls. We even submitted our nomination for Nirmal Vidyalaya Puraskar and won it for being the best school in cleanliness, attendance, education, infrastructure, and overall management. The school faculty and students acknowledge Water For People India for their relentless efforts.
